Firstly, make sure you want to become a inspirational speaker because you want to add value to people's lives - not because you can make lots of money. Being passionate about influencing people's lives for the better will be much more gratifying.
Secondly, master the art of public speaking, as you'll be doing a lot of it. At first it may seem nerve-racking, but after a good few presentations your confidence will start to build. Often the only thing holding people back with public speaking is low self-confidence - always remember your audience generally want you to succeed - they won't notice every little mistake you make. The key to success in presentations is preparation - the confidence should follow.
And finally, offer to speak for free at as many events as possible. This will gain you credability as well as many contacts (hopefully). Good luck to anyone trying to become a motivational speaker!
