Sebastian Coe has high hopes for London 2012

Sebastian Coe has said that ticket sales for the London Olypmic games in 2012 will go on sale early next year. He has high expectations for the ticket sales, which will go on to raise £441 million towards the £2 billion games operating budget. He stated that there will be a "very big appetite" for the tickets.

At past olympic games, the first tickets to sell are prime seats at opening and closing ceremonies, swimming, athletics and cycling. These are also the most expensive.


Sebastian Coe said, "We are very confident that with the ticket sign up we had a few months ago and going forward what we have been able to do regarding price and structure of the events, there will be a very big appetite,"

"Of course ticket prices are predicated on a whole series of things, the structure of events, the flow of events, but of course ticket pricing is predicated on the envrionemnt we are living in too."

The Olypmic Games have not been hard hit by budget cuts, taking £27 million out of the Olympic Development Authority's savings for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. However Sebastian Coe remains positive about the economic and social impacts the Games will have on the UK in the coming years.

"We continue to make the very strong case the Olympic Games has an economic dividend," he said.
