Economics specialist Hamish McRae states that we must address our potential for future growth before it's too late. He states that in order for future growth to kick in, we need to avoid the mistakes already made by neighbouring countries such as Germany - their growth has stalled and their unemployment has risen.
We need to learn now the mistakes we have made in the past. Such as, how to stop another banking crisis, how to pay off huge debts. McRae writes in his latest Independent article that the wealth of the world is going to shift Eastwards. If the West are struggling now, it could potentially get worse as all the investments are shifted to more successful economies.

Are you ready to become a motivational speaker?
You may be thinking of motivational speaking as a career. If you watched professional motivational speakers on TV or online, you'll know how great it looks when an audience is inspired by just one person, one leader.
But are you ready to become one? Well, do you enjoy talking about your own personal experiences, downfalls and success to strangers? Will your stories inspire your audience? Do you have what it takes to offer the correct advice to the right people? If you think you're up to it, then motivational speaking will be your ideal career!
Start by picking up tips from existing motivational speakers. What is it about their speeches that you enjoy? Which method of speaking do you find most valuable? Pick your angle and build upon it.
As with most things, practice makes perfect so keeping speaking and motivating in front of people. Your friends, family, colleagues, even practice on a webcam to friends over the Internet - or, if you're not ready for an audience yet, practice by yourself in front of a mirror.

Belief and Confidence
What would you do if you took an IQ test and scored 94? This means you are "stupid", but also incapable of operating in a normal environment with other people.
Then, you take another IQ test, in which your score has now risen to 142. This now means you're among the world's most intelligent people. So, what happened the first time? An error in the testing system meant your score was calculated to be lower than it really is. Does this change the way you think about yourself, and how to work out problems?
Mr Le Roux from South Africa is a motivational speaker that experienced just this. He decided to use his motivational speaking to make jokes of the tests mistake: of how he became incredibly intelligent from incredibly stupid between two tests.
However, he learnt something when he was declared "stupid". It is what we believe we can do that limits us, not our intelligence. If we believe we can do something and we have the confidence to try it, then intelligence does not play an important role. Mr Le Roux believed in himself, and so was not hard knocked by his poor test performance. Realising later that this test was wrong, he knew that whether he was officially "stupid" or "intelligent" would no longer matter.

Will Hutton on Unemployment
Will Hutton recently calculated that under a low-spending Tory government, nearly half a million more people would have lost their jobs.
The government also state sthat the labour market is beginning to recover more quickly than previous recessions (comparing this mostly to the recssion of the 1990s).
Confusing statistics are being published as the government seems to contradict itself: stating firstly that "Jobless rate soars to 2.5 milltion" and yet new figures show "unemployment has fallen by 7,000 to 2.46 million". However, this time last year many economists were predicting unemployment would be up to 3 million by 2010, so at least some of the government's motivations have had an effect.
Hire an experienced economist such as Will Hutton to teach your employees the dangers and savours of the past recession.
